Panda Chess Academy, owned by National Master Jeffrey Ashton, has proudly served the Houston community for nearly 20 years. All classes and tournaments are taught and organized by Jeffrey Ashton.

SPRING SUPER COMBO

Limited availability; while supplies last.

Price: $485

Includes everything for one child for the Spring 2026 semester:

  • ✓ Unlimited online chess classes
  • ✓ In-person Saturday group class (11:00 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.)
  • ✓ Saturday US Chess rated tournaments at 2:00 p.m.

Only $65 more than the Class & Tournament Combo.

Online Add-On For In-Person Enrollment

For families enrolled in Spring 2026 in-person classes, we offer an online add-on that provides unlimited online chess classes for the semester for $95 per household.

Beginner Class (Ages 5–8)

  • Single class / trial class: $15
  • 4 weeks: $60 ($15/week)
  • 16 weeks: $224 ($14/week)

Tournaments Only

  • 16 tournaments: $230
    Makeups available via online class (1 credit per missed tournament)

Other tournament pricing:

  • 4 tournaments: $75
  • 1 tournament: $20

Trial Classes & Mid-Semester

Students may try a class before committing to a full semester.

  • Beginner class (ages 5–8): $15 per trial class
  • All other classes: $25 per trial class

If a student enrolls after a trial class, the amount paid will be credited toward the remaining balance of the semester fee.

Students may also join mid-semester with prorated pricing, if space is available.

USCF Membership (Required for tournament play)

A current US Chess Federation (USCF) membership is required for all players who participate in tournaments.

  • $24/year via the US Chess website (instant)
  • $13/year via local organizer Jim Liptrap (24-hour processing)
